I'm a Christian, and I believe the scientific analysis that the Earth is about 4.6 billion years old. The Bible describes the earth and all creation created in 6 days, but I think that is metaphorically written, to emphasize that God created everything. We don't know what a "day" was actually meant to represent at that time. The Bible doesn't say anything about the age of the earth or the universe. The Genesis story was written to be simple and easy for people to understand at that time.
It is somewhere from 5,000 to 7,000 years old. That is from reading the Bible, and going through the geneology, and doing the calculations. Plus many other christians who have read the Bible have told me that. I hope this helps.
We don't know the age of the earth by my beliefs BUT from the time God decided to create us people in the garden of Eden... We have accounted for 6000 years. God said the water and darkness was already there when He started us. Who knows what was there before or for how long.
First off, the Bible is blunt. Nothing is allegorical or metaphorical except for Jesus' parables, whine he was giving examples of principles to follow. God created everything in six days, rested on the seventh, and we developed a calendar that has (what do you know) seven days. I've heard some say that a day in that area of the Bible was probably several thousand years, but that's just to accept the scientific theories or the ideas that God couldn't have possibly done all this in just a week. I still don't understand the reason for not wanting to believe that he did it in seven days. Maybe it's because people want to believe that the world is what the "experts" say: 4.6 billion years old. But you can't be a Christian, ignore what the Bible says, and believe in guesses made by archaeologists and historians. I'm going on an estimation, but I think the Earth is about 5,000 years old. It's obviously at least 2013 years, but their was definitely years before AD (Anno Domini: In the year of our Lord). I'm guessing, based off the time that Old Testament covers, that there were about 3,000 years before AD. There's my answer.
The earth is over 4.6 Billion years old. Mankind has lived on it, for 6.000 years, you can check Bible Chronology. The Bible does not say how old the earth itself is. Those that say the earth is only 6,000 years old just add to the confusion. Research the Bible more to come up with the accurate answer.
