What is the universe?

I mean like, what is anything? How did anything create what is in front of us today? What could create the mass amount of materials in the universe? And is the universe endless? If it is, how is it possible that it would go on forever? WHAT IS EVERYTHING? WHAT ARE WE? HOW DID THE UNIVERSE CREATE OUR BRAINS THAT ALLOWS ME TO TYPE RIGHT NOW???????

The big question. If you want a rational based, reasoned, with actual evidence, instead of a religious explanation (which is no explanation) - about 13.7 billion years ago, there was no matter, no energy, no time or space, but a super powerful gravitational "singularity" that "exploded" (that's a simplified way to think of the Big Bang). In the first nano seconds to seconds, space, time, the four forces, and a super hot plasma expanded out from the singularity - a process called "inflation". The growing universe's temperature was uneven - some of that plasma would become stars with mass - and they would group into collections called galaxies. The temperatures of any stars - when becoming supernovae, was high enough for the only primal atom (hydrogen) to fuse with others of its kind - forming the periodic table of elements. Those elements would eventually become what we are physically made of - as well as all other matter - animate or not. Free floating debris in orbit around our sun (sol), for example, collided (due to gravitation) to form the earth - about 4.5 billion years ago - and it didn't look anything like it does today. Over the next .5 to 1 billion years, the first self replicating molecules formed - we believe Genesis was somewhere in sub-Saharan Africa. Once the "tree of life" began, it evolved a class of creatures - single "celled" creatures, called "prokaryotes" - which would diversify and become bacteria and eventually "eukaryotes" which had a nucleus. The rest you can get from high school biology. We just discovered the universe is in fact finite - but still expanding and expanding faster and faster. The expansion is of the space between celestial objects - not the objects themselves. We also discovered the universe is flat.

The universe is the total of all galaxies, planets, empty space, etc ... that we live in.

The universe is everything. The majority of scientists believe that we formed as the result of an explosed star, or a supernova. The way the elemts from that supernova formed/ arranged themselves is why we are here if they were arranged any other way we would not be here. If youre truley intrigued by this stuff watch How the Universe Works ofn the science chanel. I got into this stuff a while back and i learned a TON from that show c:
