No the vikings tried to trick outsiders by naming it the opposite of what it really is. Like almost every place however it gets cold during the winter but its not all glaciers like in DeadHorse, Alaska. Alaska isn't always covered in snow either but we do have polar bears and whales but don't eat seal 24/7 and do not live in igloos.
No. It has a brief summer season that lacks ice in most places. Greenland has more year round ice than Iceland. Iceland is, in fact, highly volcanic and has many spots near volcanos and hot spots that do not form ice even in winter.
