Why do my doors on my 2005 Chevy Equinox make popping sounds when they are opened.

They make popping sounds like in the hinges.

You need to lubricate the hinges, and the metal bar that controls the hold open position with white lithium grease.

It really depends on how much it has been used. It may also just need a little TLC and some lubricant.

I would agree with the others, I'm sure the hinges just need some oil. If that doesn't fix it, then I would take it to a Chevy dealership or a mechanic and see if they might know what is wrong. It doesn't sound like anything too major though, that happens with a lot of vehicles.
