There isn't just one pat answer. Life is what YOU make of it. Think of your life as a blank notepad, and YOU have to fill in every line to pass a test at the end. the better the life, the better the score, and remember this, the test uses happiness as 80% of your score! :)
Life's "purpose" mirrors Arthurian legend. It is the search for the holy grail.
What grail? Where? How? These are salient questions and all are unanswerable for, in my opinion, the search is impossible.
Those of us who undertake it, ask strange questions, probe for hidden meanings and, to paraphrase Don Quixote, "go where the sane dare not go".
Yet, in spite of chasing so elusive a phantom, that's not a waste of time -- because the search is itself the meaning.
If you reach the point where you find that satisfies your question, you'll be well on the way to understanding. Unless, of course, I'm a total nutter, in which case you should disregard this answer and go instead to a philosopher, a theologian, or a mystic.

IT IS in the powerful model or patterned prayer that Jesus left us, not to recite but to have in content the most importent things! (in our own words no matter how awkward they might be--Jehovah God & Christ Jesus can read our hearts! PLEASE NOTE
FIRST lauding, praising , "hallowing" his Great Name (Jehovah or Yahweh) . SECOND --The true hope of The heavenly Kingdom to bring true Peace on earth soon after Armageddon has ended! ! THIRD through FIVE or SIX -our personal needs. FINALLY the need to be aware of Satans temptations & attacks to resist:
Matthew 6:9-13 New International Version (NIV)
9 “This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, 10 your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us today our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation,[a] but deliver us from the evil one.[b]’
