How can I tell someone my hip is killing me?

My hip has been hurting me. And I fell yesterday onto my back on ice going up my hill. Every time I tell my mom she fluffs me off. I'm to shy to tell a teacher, because every time I get enough confidence there's a person in our class that has a new pain everyday and I don't want to look like a whiner. How can I tell someone. It's a 9/10 pain now, and it hurts to walk and bend and even lay so I can't get comfy to sleep. Ice and heat don't work, nor does tyenol/ibproufen. Please help! I'm only 14

you HAVE to get up the courage to tell someone! tell and friend to tell the teacher or your parents or anyone who can take you to the doctor! it could be serious and not getting help is just going to make it 100 times worse! I'm shy also and I know how it feels not wanting to complain but trust me it sucks being so shy to tell adults and stuff serious things and scared they might think your lying. I'm 14 too. please try and tell someone!

I understand that, but for one there's going to be three two not including me, and I need to. I feel the urge to, I missed it today, Will it make it worse?

When you have an injury, you have to let it heal, even if that means skipping a week or two of exercise. It is possible that the injury can become worse, especially since you don't know what the diagnosis is. In your original question, are you saying that your hip has been hurting even before you slipped?
Report as
Yes that is true

well anyway you should tell a teacher or a school nurse because it can be really serious but apparently im only 11 and if you don't like my suggestion don't follow it but seriously get help I know it's hard and I go through this everyday but tell a teacher.

I'm sorry that you have to go through this, you can talk to me if you like. And thanks, our school doesn't have a nurse, it's mainly the gym teacher

The only way you can get help is to ask for it. I don't understand why your mother isn't taking you seriously, but if she won't help you, then you should definitely tell a nurse or pediatrician. Pushing yourself to ask more for help even though you may feel uncomfortable could eventually help you break out of your shy behavior. For your injury... I doubt it is anything serious other than a bruised pelvis but you should really get a professional's opinion.

Well slipping yesterday just added on, it's been hurting at a 9:10 for about a week now, and I did a bad gymnastics move wrong last week

Ok then no, you should not go tomorrow to the fitness class. Even though you may want to go, you really should not. I'm not telling you can't go because that's your decision, but I highly recommend you avoid exercise until a doctor tells you its ok to do so.

Why does it feel better when I run though?
Report as
That might be due to increased endorphins from exercise, which is a natural "pain killer." After a while that wears off and the pain will return.
Report as
Ok I wish I could run now then, but it's all ice and snow!
Report as
Although running might help in the short term, it could aggravate the injury and cause more stress on your muscle and increase the healing time and pain.

Ok thanks
