What does emo stand for? I know it's a sad emotion

I really want to know.

Well its a label some people join "emo" groups so they can be cool. but it is lame and people cut themself just so they can be cool. DON'T JOIN A DUMB EMO CLUB! its for losers/posers!

EMO means EMOtional. It's just a shortened version of the word.

Emo actually means emotional. Most people think it involves hurting oneself in bad ways such as cutting.

EMO means a lot of things like:emontional, style of music,a fashion from the late 1600-1800's. its not what you really think it means!

its short for emotional and is also a genre of music. also dnt mix scene and emo, scene is a look/style ^.^ like u cant say emo hair for ex, its scene hair

It means emotional...Most people say " Oh those are those freaks who cut their arms" I get spazzy when they say that! >_<

Emo has two meanings
1; A sub-genre of punk expressing their thoughts and feelings in the lyrics.
2; A label people give themselves as being ampathetic/depressed.
People say emo means emotional which is true, but the term 'emo' originally means Emotive Hardcore... Thats so cool right? ;D But yeah it can both be described as emotional or Emotive Hardcore! :3 Plus, NOT ALL EMOS SELF HARM! Some do on a higher level of their depression. So if you give emos greif about harming themselves and your reading this I hope I've changed your mind about how you treat them! :)
