Would you say eating popcorn can be as addicting as smoking?

I mean think about it? It takes as long as smoking to finish and it gives your mind a good feeling too. What do you think? What about coffee being as addicting?

ANYTHING can be addictive--absolutely anything... Food, drink, drugs, sex, exercise, gambling, shopping, and the list goes on.. However, most of those things are only psychologically addictive, not physically. If you are psychologically addicted to popcorn and you suddenly stop eating it, you're not going to get violently ill like you would if you just came off of heroin cold turkey. If, by chance, you were to end up feeling physical withdrawal symptoms from something that's not physically addictive, then that's because you're subconsciously and psychologically inflicting the symptoms upon yourself.

You can definitely be addicted like you are addicted to nicotine. Popcorn, not at all.

No. What makes cigarette smoke addicting is the nicotine; and what makes coffee so is the caffeine. Popcorn is a food that has no negatives, maybe the salt or butter added.

I don't think so because we don't have withdrawal symptoms if we give up popcorn or coffee. Addiction is more than just liking something.

Anyone who drinks coffee (or any other caffeinated beverages) regularly and then suddenly stops, WILL experience physical withdrawal symptoms.

Anything can become a drug.. Even popcorn. -- in response to some of the answers above you aren't addicted to the coffee but to the caffeine in the coffee. Just like you can get addicted to Pepsi or Mountain Dew because of the caffeine content in them.

Not even close. All addictions should be addressed by a professional medical expert.

Heck no. I love popcorn, but if I can't get any or don't have any when I want it, it's no biggie...I forget about it after a while. Before I quit smoking when I wanted a cigarette, you can bet I didn't get over it...I would get testy, grumpy, anxious, and mean. Boy, that was a tough habit to break...but worth it.
