Your cat might not like the royal canine, but just like the vet said it is a healthy food for cats. Before choosing your cat's food, you should consider some factors like your cat's age, its body condition and its health history. Visit a vet to learn more.

Science Diet seems to be yummiest to cats and is equally as nutritious and highly recommended by vets (I worked for vets for years). If there is a particular reason your vet wants you using that brand try adding a bit of warm water to the dry food to create a "gravy" as this may make it more tempting for your cats. Be careful as cats will quickly become anorexic when given food they highly dislike and will not eat it even if starving.

That's because science diet has an agreement with most vets where they pay them so much to sell the food. Really it's full of corn and wheat which are not good things for cats and dogs to eat.

This answer is correct but the comment that followed was absolutely incorrect

I worked closely with our science diet reps (we also sold Iams and certain prescription Eukanuba) and we did not exclusively sell any particular type. I'm not sure where you have gotten your info but assume some Internet article that was written by the same crazy cat lady that mans the Battlestar Galactica homepage. Science Diet and it's prescription varieties are highly nutritious.

I worked at a pet store for 3 years. We carried that along with diamond, holistic, eagle pac, natural choice, iams naturals, royal cannin, and others. I would recommend everything but natural choice and science diet. Both are full of corn and wheat. Look at the labels.

That must have been over a decade ago because I would always show clients that chicken/lamb/etc was the first thing listed in the ingredients meaning that was a majority of the product. And corn and grains are good for cats and dogs.

Corn and grains are not good for them. They would not eat them naturally it is a filler. Most cats and dogs develop allergies to corn and wheat due to the high amount they eat and you should look at the first 3 ingredients not just 1. This was 4 years ago that I started there and and stopped working there last year. Throughout those 3 years it never changed.
