Raw chicken bones are fine. That's a lot for your dog to eat at one time though. Make sure you keep an eye on him for a good 24 hrs to make sure he passes everything alright. Offer lots of fresh water. He probably doesn't need another meal for 24 hrs either. My Boxer did the same thing once. After that she wanted to go after every bird. Especially wild turkeys, LOL!!!
Yes, chicken bones basically turn to shards of glass when chewed. In return, they cause internal bleeding in a dog's intestines. Do not feed your dog chicken, or pork chop bones, or chocolate. A live chicken every now and then probably won't hurt them
Well they say that soft bones (chicken or fish) could cause problems, although foxes and coyotes which are members of the dog family do ok with eating bird bones.. If he is carrying on as usual I'd say he is fine.
NO...ITS NOT GOING TO HARM your dog!!!! My dog has taken out apx 7-8 famlies of Opossums, birds, squirrels, mice, and a Racoon....Im sure there is others but dont come to mind. I know Opossums carry a wide range of disease so I called my Aunt (his vet) to make sure we would have no problems. As long as he has had his shots we were fine (((mainly rabbies, I DO NOT give my dog unecessary shots, he get rabbies, dhlpp, and tested for heartworms to continue his Heartguard. there may be just 1 more he gets but dont remember as 1 of his shots is good for 2 years and rabbies is a 3 year vaccine))) .We had a 6 1/2 foot tall wood Privacy Fence (((not the cheap kind, very thick wood panels)))) ...He ATE THROUGH IT!!! We would fix it, secured it...so we thought?!?! Ate THROUGH THAT!!! He would grab a piece of the wood, whatever he could grab with his teeth and start pulling, ripping, and breaking pieces off til he got out...I couldnt blieve how small of a hole he needed to escape!! He is a medium sized dog ((( apx 50-55 lbs ))) It was so FUNNY, but expensive!!! Had to put up a type of fence that is steel, 5 foot tall, attached to steel posts, and secure to the ground....He has NOT yet succesfully escaped!!! However if anything comes in his yard, its his......he will kill it!!! Your dog will be just fine, when people dump their dogs and leave them on a dirt road somewhere the dog survies on eating whatever it can find. But **BEWARE** He/she may be type of territorial dog that will not allow any other animal in his yard. ((we do have 2 cats inside that he does not bother, and a sister he gets along with)) GOOD LUCK & TAKE CARE.. HUGS TO YOUR " FURRBABY"
