What is the best time of year to visit London? September or December?

I know both are heading towards colder weather but which is the best for crowds and weather? I would prefer to stay out of crowds :)

December is going to be much better for crowds, I think, but likely to be cold and wet.

September is sometimes the best weather all year.

The crowds in central London - Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Buck House, are pretty bad in the summer. Large groups of foreign tourists blocking the sidewalks...

September the weather will be great December is rainy and foggy home

September, in December it gets dark way by 4:00pm so your time will be limited when it comes to sight seeing.
