Yes, you can lose weight with Wii Fit, provided that you create a calorie deficit (i.e., consume less calories per day than you take-in) between the exercise from Wii Fit and your daily diet. Wii Fit offers a variety of exercise options (strength training, balance, yoga, etc); you'll likely find the biggest benefit if you make the effort to do them all vs. focusing on only one. Moreover, you're going to need to put in a fair bit of time on the Wii to get meaningful benefits (as most of the programs don't burn a lot of calories per hour).

Yes, it can help you lose weight, but it should only be an addition to your daily 30 mintues of recommended excersise and not as a main workout. It is better to use the Wii to stay fit and keep off weight, rather than using it to lose those extra pounds. Jogging, weight-lifting, swimming, and diet are more effective.
