what type of food do you get for a cat that has hyperthyroidism

I'm trying to find a high protein diet for a cat with hyperthyroidism he's an older cat 9 years of age

First thing I would do is ask your Vet what he/she recommends. Then Google your diet concerns and find out some good things from the many good sites there. As my Hound has Pancreatitis, I found a place called Whole Dog Journal and found many good recipe's for good things for him. I'm sure you will find the same type of information for cats too.

I would look for something with a high meat content since meat is protein.

This is one we use for our dog. They also make cat food and when I did my research I didn't see any negative reviews, unlike Iams or Beneful. It's available Amazon.

If you're looking for the best quality, highest protein, look at the Orijen brand foods. More expensive but you also feed less, and you won't find better protein in dry food.

When looking at food/protein sources, look at ingredients. You want at LEAST 3 of the first 5 ingredients to be some named type of meat meal. If first ingredient is corn or wheat find another.
