The rate of velocity change with time, unit is (1m / s2), could be minus, positive or zero. Minus acceleration is the decreasing of the initial velocity, positive of course is the increase of the initial velocity, zero means that initial and final velocities are equal.

Scientifically it is any change in speed. Positive acceleration is an increase in speed while negative acceleration is a decrease in speed.
