How accurate are I.Q tests?

WHATS THE NATIONAL AVERAGE?

Report as

Actual IQ tests are reasonably accurate. The fake do it yourself ones that are available on the internet are not accurate at all.

Where do I go to take a "real" IQ test. I want an accurate result.
Report as
Go to a neuropsychologist.

Here is some information that may help point to where one can go to get a test taken. It is my understanding that the average is 100.

I had a real one after a stroke to measure my deficits/damage. A neuropsychologist administered the test. It had oral and written parts. It also had pictures. It took about five hours to complete it. It was extremely detailed, measuring IQ in math, language, reading, problem solving, etc. What was interesting to me personally was to see my IQ #'s in areas of known brain injury vs non injured area. It was like having two sets of numbers. A bit scary too. I wouldn't waste time with on line IQ tests. They can't possibly get the detail or analysis to tell you much that would be valuable to you.

I took one once, I got 84%!

An IQ test doesn't give one score nor does it quantify it in percentages. Perhaps your IQ was 84?

Don't waste your time, unless you are extremely bright and want to join some elite society, it's not that important, other than being a good diagnostic tool.
