Who Named The Colorado River?

Report as

There is still an ongoing research about the history on how the Colorado River got its name. What is known, however, is that inhabitants of the place already made use of the name as noted by the Europeans who first reached the place. However, there is a map created by Didier Robert de Vaugondy in 1758 where the name Colorado River was already first seen.

The Colorado river was named as Rio Colorado or red river by the spanish. It was due to the reddish brown color it originally due to presence of sediments and silts.
