I do not know what side effects can happen from putting honey in your eye can cause as I have never heard of this before. I do know that certain medications can change the color of your iris. I must tell you, however, I have had two cornea transplants, one in each eye, in an attempt to prevent blindness. There is absolutely nothing I would ever recommend putting in an eye, unless a doctor prescribed it.
All these people answering "DON'T DO IT, I'VE NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A THING" are just uninformed. Using honey for treating eye infections is a traditional natural remedy that's common knowledge to anyone familiar with homeopathy. However, I just RECENTLY heard about using it for the purposes you mentioned while doing research on lightening my eye color. It also weirds me out that so many people think there's nothing you can do to lighten your eye color. Again... uninformed. I've been using honey in my eye (pure honey directly into the eye with an eye dropper... despite suggestions to dilute it with boiled-then-cooled/purified water) for about a week now. It hurts... and is sticky like people mention... but that's to be expected. No negative side effects. Just eyeballs less susceptible to infection I guess haha. I've heard stories of people doing it every day for years and years with success. But if you're like me... I want change quickly lol. I think I'll try something else now.
honey does a gr8 work..like eye drops do..if u r having painful eyes..just put little bit of honey..nd believe meee guys..the pain wud go way in couple of hours...der r no side effects at all..i've tried it..=)..GOOD LUCK
NO U GUYS, IT IS ACTUALLY GOOD FOR THE EYES. in fact, Honey is used for lightning. and if u put honey in ur eyes, it does lighten the color. Also HONEY FIGHTS INFECTIONS IN THE EYE. If u have a red eye, put drops of honey in the eye, and itll get better. Honey used in the eye makes your lashes longer, because honey moisturizes the lashes. YES it stings a little, but its only for a while and its PRETTTYYY healthy for the eyes. I did it and my eyesight got better :)
I try it and to me it clear my eye. I have brown eyes. Hearing from other who have try it say that it change the color at least a shade or something (they must be kidding right!). I try it and it does not work for me. People it sting very fast and then gone quickly, so u can say it kind of sting like sh*t (wash with cool water is the best to melt the sting). Therefore, this stuff fail unless you've been doing this like your whole life. I think it only changes if you have gene that eye color can change over time.
Honey Is Actually Good For If you think about it other then the fact the eyes drops contain alcohol and other chemicals but yet again honey is using in medicine to cure diseases food, deserts, etc it can help relax your eyes and clean them as well also lighten your eyes i tried it and by 1 week i had incredible results it changed my eye from a Very Dark Brown(Slightly Black) to a Light Brown and i had no problem no itchy eye or red eyes nothing serious or bad but the fact that i look better then i was before.
Actually there are none except maybe irritation to the eye. Honey is actually good for your eyes. It helps fight against infections. Honey actually can lighten you eyes and hair. It just takes a while. You should boil hot water and only use pure honey, and a little lemon juice. Make sure you have more water than honey when doing this. But i would not recommend using it on top of your contacts (lesson learned).

In my opinion its not a bad thing I'm doing it and over the past 3 days my eye color has lightend a slight bit. Before I couldn't see my pupil now I actually can without staring so hard. And btw its not the peroxide that helps change the eye color. Honey stops the production of melanin, which is what your eye keeps producing to stay the color that it is hence super dark brown eyes but when you use the honey and water mixture it stops the eye from producing melanin and your eye starts to get lighter. Although it will take a while to see a huge change. Read -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eye_color
UMMMMMMMM some of you are so foolish Honey is an antibacterial substance it will not give you an infection if anything it will get rid of and prevent an infection in fact it has been used since ancient times to do just that and is still used today in some cases for heal infection
