I have a 5 month old kitten, he's a skinny boy and doesn't use the litter box much. How much should I clean it a week?

Everyday,If he goes to the litter box everyday then he needs it cleaned everyday,Most cats react badly to dirty litter boxes (even a little dirty) and they may start going to the bathroom in other places around you're home.

A couple of times per week is usually sufficient. Always before it smells or looks bad. Cats will often go poop in inappropriate places if their litter box is too nasty for them.

If you use clumping litter give it a quick scoop out every two days and change the whole box about once every two weeks. Obviously if it starts to smell change it sooner.

Every 2-3 days is good enough if only one cat uses the litter box.
