How can I help her? My girlfriend's grandmother is dying, and I want to make her feel better.

I see her at school almost daily, and just want to bring a smile to her face.

Show up at her door after school with a bouquet of bright yellow flowers and watch a romantic movie on the couch with her. When girls are sad, they really just need a hug and someone to be there. Emphasis on hug. Like a bear hug lol

Do not try to bring a smile to her face. You will not be able to bring a smile to her face, so don't worry yourself trying. It is a part of the grieving process. It will be too hard for your girlfriend to smile right away. What you can do to make her feel a little better is just be there with her. Do not ask her questions. Do not tell her you know how she feels. Do not tell her "your grandma lived a long time" or "she is in a better place" or "you will see her again someday" or "she is watching over you right now." (Those things will just infuriate her or cause her pain in the beginning.) Do not make her talk. She will talk when she is ready. And she WILL seek you out to talk to when she is ready to talk because of how you treat her right now. Just sit with her, hold her, hug her....... sometimes no words are the most powerful words when someone is grieving. :0)
Good luck. You are strong. Be strong for the both of you. :0) She needs it.
