what happens to a population of Streptococcus Pneumoniae immediately after it is exposed to a new antibiotic?

Report as

It depends . The new antibiotic has to be engineered to fight that certain strain of bacteria. If it's not engineered and tested to do so, the new antibiotic will do nothing. If it's not given in proper dosages the antibiotic will keep it at bay for just a little while and then the bacteria comes back, most times harder to fight. There are some new antibiotics will not do anything at all.

If the new antibiotic is poisonous to the Strep, the Strep will start to die. Otherwise it will just continue doing what it does.

I would hope it would be on the decline.
