Hyperbole is a universal concept that may not be spelled hyperbole in other countries but I'm sure there is a similar word that means hyperbole in any particular country. Hyperbole in its shortened form is "hype," and as you know it is a product, event or situation that is greatly exaggerated. The wonders of the "Flow Bee," for example, vacuumed attached hair shears, was hyped as the eight wonder of the world. It's now in thrift stores, as is other products that once promised to solve the worlds problems. The Flow Bee was too noisy, cumbersome and the blade dulled pretty readily. I'm sure even in non-industrialized countries, people exaggerate or hyperbole their stuff, be it themselves to prospective dates or their skills, market products and so on. Stock brokers, salesmen, concert or event promoters, lawyers, and contractors, all of them hype their wares, talents, or skills, much to the chagrin of the gullible, inexperienced, and or weak willed individuals or sheeple.
