A teachers noticed that there were a total of 100 heads and 270 legs at farm. How many chickens were there? How many Pigs were there? Solve.

In my math homework. I just don't know how to write the problem. That's all I need really, and I can go from there. Thanks!

There are chickens and pigs
Each has 1 head , chicken has 2 legs pig has 4
let chicken be c and pigs be p
c + p = 100
2c + 4p = 270
Multiply the top equation by 2
2c + 2p = 200
Now you can subtract the first equation from the second to get rid of the 2c and leave p by itself
2p = 70
p = 35
There are 35 pigs
Remember there are 100 heads, since 35 of them are pig heads, 65 must be chicken heads. There are 65 chickens and 35 pigs.

1 chicken has 2 legs.
1 pig has 4 legs.

270 divide 6 = 45

100 divide 2 = 50
