What legal action can I take against my ex/collection agency for harassing me with my ex's collection calls?
My ex boyfriend and I broke up last February (2013). I have never co-signed anything with him, or put 'our' names on anything together. At some point in the relationship he gave someone my cell phone number, and now it is the primary contact for him on his collection record. I have dealt with at least 4 different collection agencies, all of which I told to delete my number, and that I no longer had contact with him. It wasn't until the last agency that I was informed that they delete it from their company, but on the original record that gets sent to different companies as time goes on, still keeps my number until he calls and changes it. Early last year I had messaged my ex on FB asking him to call his agency and deal with changing the number. He told me he would, yet nothing changed. I then later messaged him again, essentially stating the same thing, and received no response.
Now, almost a year later, I get a recording calling 3 times a week, asking him to call to make a payment. I messaged my ex again last week, and he finally responded asking for the contact numbers, and he was going to 'call again'. What can I do? I have too much linked to my phone to change the number.
