No, I don't think it does. When Nautilus body building machine makers sponsored several body builders named "the Metzger brothers, " they insisted that the body builders not grunt, because all stress and tension had to be directed at the bodybuilding. Grunting, yelling, and or making vocal noises took away from the body building effort. I too believe this is so. Also, it is rude to subject people to your guttural sounds, and it looks and sounds stupid. It really benefits you less and not more to grunt when you work out. Glad you asked.
