Sadly to say the least. You may get arrested. Sadly. If it's medical then it needs to be excused by the school or the board of education so you're kid does not get sent to a orphanage and you get charged for truancy.

You are the guardian of this minor and are responsible for their education. Minors ages of 5 to 16 (in most states) are required by law to attend school. The school is responsible to notify you each time your child is truant (an unexcused absence). In California, this is what defines a truancy:
"it states that a student missing more than 30 minutes of instruction without an excuse three times during the school year must be classified as a truant and reported to the proper school authority."
25 days in less than half of the school year is a severe amount of absences. This has gone beyond the school helping you to resolve the problem and that is why social services has been brought into the situation. You will most likely have to go to court as social services has been contacted. You now have a file in the CPS (child protection services) system. Everything about your household is going to be judged.
Here is a link that explains what truancy and its consequences are here in California:
It depends on why your child missed so many days. If their unexcused absences that its makes it worse. You will be charge with truancy. They will most likely monitor your home.truancy officer will be at your house.fines. Possibly jail time. And don't forget COURT!
