Is it weird to date someone with the same name as an ex, a family member of yours, or even yourself?

Pros/Cons/Experiences?

Report as

Ya know, I don't think I've ever dated a girl with the same name as a previous friend. Now calling out the wrong name,...that's another story! ;)

Haha Silly. :)
It's trying to snow here...

And thanks. :)

It's too cold to snow here! But it's suppose to warm up (to about 40) and then snow.

I'd just like to see it for a day at least. It doesn't really ever snow here.
And it didn't snow the last time I was in Ohio. Go figure.

No, if you really like the person it shouldn't matter. Unless of course it's a last name...then that might raise some questions. Just make sure you're not related(;

I think having the gf with the same name as me is creepy. It's like I'm calling myself.

Well, no personal experiences like that, but my sisters husband is also named "Joshua". I never thought much of it.
But, I can't imagine my girly-girl being another Joshua. That'd be way freaky

Does your sister call you Joshua and her hubby Joshua too?
Just curious.
Haha Silly. :)

It's an easy difference. I'm the cool Josh =)
Report as
Haha For sure. :)
Thanks, Joshua...er...Josh. :)
Since I will never talk to your sister's hubby...I will still call you Joshua, but will be thinking "cool Josh". :)

Haha, well you're the cool Jenny, then. Even though I don't know any other Jenny's

Hey! You could have left out that second sentence there. Haha
I'll take it as a compliment anyway. :)

No, I don't think it matters, although it can be very coincidental and awkward to some. My " (step?) grandpa" has been married 3 times...every girl was named Lisa. Lol

Hm... I don't think so. My aunt's boyfriend's name is Dan, and so is my dad's and brother's name. :o

Well my cousins name is Anna Claire (I won't say her last name) and she dated a boy who lived in the next state over. They they were councilors and met at camp. They dated for awhile but then broke up. She still really likes him but he is now dating a girl named Anna and she has the same last name as my cousin! My cousin and she are not related but the last name is spelled the same, and my cousins last name is spelled different from how you would think. So she is kind of freaked out at that. FYI they look a lot alike too, both blonds with green eyes and small frames!

No, I wouldn't consider that weird. But think of this: you and your love are getting married... What's weird is that the two of you will have the same names. Get me? Cool, isn't it. Therefore, I wouldn't say having the same name as your lover would be weird, just pretty awesome.

A while back, I heard about a guy and a girl that started chatting on the internet because they had the same first and last names. Just for fun at first, I believe. (A unisex name, of course.) They ended up falling in love and getting married.
I haven't seen you on here for a while. Thanks for answering my q. :)
