Is it cheaper to file your own divorce papers or hire a lawyer

My husband has recently told me that he does not love me the same way I love him. He has also told me that the only reason he married me was because of our soon to be daughter coming into this world. I will not stay in a relationship where I am giving my everything and the other is not. My husband and I have both agreed that we believe a separation would be the best for us right now. we both also agree our daughter will be in better care with me. I don't want any child support, but I don't want him to stop seeing our daughter either. Would it just be cheaper to file the papers myself or would it be smarter to have a lawyer do it for me

You only need a lawyer if you have things to split up, like the value of a home you own, savings accounts, etc. Otherwise, it will be cheaper to do yourself. However, there are also mediators who will work with both the husband and wife to help make sure things are legal. That can only be done if no one is fighting each other over who gets what!

I think the smartest way to do this is to have him pay for the divorce, seeing that it is his feelings that are lacking all of a sudden... let him find a cheap way to get divorced., you have enough to worry about right now. Good Luck and hope you find someone who truely loves you in the future..
