How do I not embarrass myself?

So basically I moved into another middle school and I was devastated. I begged my mom and she moved me back to my other school, I'm going back on Monday. I'm really nervous because my best friend called me today, I've been away for a month, she already has been hanging out with another group of people. The group of people she hangs with are 'preppy', 'popular' those types of kids. My question is: "How do I not embarrass myself hanging out with these different kids?"

This happened to me during Junior High - and I get how much pressure you are feeling. This might sound nuts - but try to understand it anyway: right now, at this time of you're life, you are starting to form your own personal "identity" - which is no easy task. Tweens and teens usually start moving out of childhood by hanging out with other kids where they feel comfortable - and feel a sense of "protection" - the group itself becomes a kind of "personality" - that have labels - like the "preppies", "the stoners", the "emos", the "jocks", the "loners", etc. That labeling is the start of developing your own identity - when fully formed - you won't be so attracted to groups (often called "cliques"). In your current situation - you've got to have the guts to not follow the herd - and think for yourself - as weird as this sounds - other kids will be attracted to hanging out with you - since you have natural confidence (never use arrogance - be genuine) - and confidence is very attractive. You'll see that over time, you'll change your tastes in whom you want to hang out with - eventually - usually in your late teens, you'll not feel the pressure you have on you now - because you'll be "yourself" and not defined by any social group. This includes whom will be your true friends - that may last a lifetime.

You should be a leader, not a follower. You start the conversation. Don't be stressed. Drik herbal tea, do yoga, and read. :)

Just be yourself, if you try too hard to be different, they'll think you're insecure and has no confidence.
