Can I Have an MRI If I Have a Titanium Clip?

Report as

Yes, you can. While MRI as a powerful magnet exerts electromagnetic force attraction on ferrous containing metals such as iron and to a lesser degree cobalt and nickel, it does NOT attract metals such as titanium, aluminum, and copper. For safety purposes, patients who will undergo MRI are carefully screened for these metals. For more info, visit http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/545548.
