when to use a and an

Report as

In written language it is customary to use "a" before referring to something that begins with a consonant. Use "an" when referring to something that begins with a vowel, or a letter that sounds like it begins with a vowel. When an "h" begins the word, "an" is to be used, but when "u" begins a word, "a" can be used.
