Congratulations on thinking about this BEFORE you need it. It is so distressing to read question after question from people who had sex first, no protection, then pregnancy stress. You will need two methods. Method (a) is a chemical to protect from fertilization (patch, injections, birth control pills, etc.. Method (b) is a barrier method which protects you from infection, STDs, ARC, HIV. You need both to be safe. Condoms alone don't do it. Some break, some are cheap, and some come off when the girl isn't able to watch. Girls MUST be active in protecting themselves. This can't be left to boys. This must never be left to boys. Using both methods of birth control are still a lot less expensive than having and raising a baby. If you can't talk to your doctor about this or don't have a doctor, look up women's clinics in the phone book and talk to somebody BEFORE you do the deed.

There are various methods of birth control including pills, injections and implants. To get the proper one to use, you can go to the hospital and have your doctor recommend the best option for you to use.

Maybe they should talk to your doctor, then.

I'm sure her parents will encourage her to practice abstinence even though they're taking this precaution. If more parents did both, perhaps we wouldn't see 10 distressed underage pregnancy questions on here every hour.
