I own the Contour Ab Belt and have been very pleased with my results. The Contour Ab Belt has not only strengthened my core but it has given me great abs. The Contour Ab Belt allows you to target, tone and strengthen your core muscles with an effective abdominal workout routine that burns 20% more calories than if you were at rest. The Ab Belt also makes it so that you never have to get down on the floor again to do those back breaking abdominal exercises.
As with any EMS device, in order to receive the best workout from your Ab Belt you need to complete the full 30 minute program and increase your intensity over time. You can increase or decrease the EMS intensity right on your Contour EMS Controller. The intensity of the EMS current you have selected, determines the amount of muscles stimulated. With a low intensity setting, few muscle fibers are worked.
If you want to see results fast, then you'll also need to eat healthier and do cardio exercises.
Ab belts generally do motion around the abdominal section, massaging it or vibrating at speeds that will tire out the muscle. Though it lets the person perspire, it is not an effective way to lose weight and shrink the abdominal area.

Ab Belts use EMS (electronic muscle stimulation) to create impulses to abdominal muscle groups. Some of them have been FDA cleared for strengthening and toning. The Contour Ab Belt is one of them. If used consistently, you can expect increased strength and tone. The Contour recently came out with a research study showing that subjects burned an additional 20% calories at rest. But the ab belt alone should not be considered a weight-lose product. EMS technology used in the ab belts have been around for many years to create muscle contractions. The contractions are controlled with different levels of intensity through the EMS controller. These contractions can be compared to the same type as when you do sit-ups or crunches, etc. and like any muscle contract/relax cycle, do actually tone and strengthen.
Ab Belts work with the same electrical impulses that physical therapists use to prevent muscle deterioration. And that's all they'll do. They won't strengthen or tone muscles. The electrical charge necessary to do that would be quite painful.
