Sure, but what would be the point? Graduating students who are less competent? Not qualified for further education like college? The goal is to teach students what they need to know and not shove them out the door before then.
Most students who drop out are not interested or are too preoccupied for their education. Lowering the bar lessens the challenge of those that are in school, and that leaves students with less confidence and not really suited for life after school.
Really? I think lowering the bar on our public school system is an excellent idea!!! perhaps we'd have a higher graduation rate but so what?!?!! we'd just have more under/uneducated with a high school diploma .
