What happens if you never return a book to the public library?
You get tagged for a lost book and the library charges you a lost book fee ( the price of the book plus a processing fee) and your card is marked for no access till you pay it.LeAnnLibrarian
They keep charging you and will make you pay next time you use your card
Nothing. They aren't the mafia, they are the public library, funded by members of the community.
Your conscience will really bother you!
I think the price of the book gets deducted from your tax refund. Or it should be! Give it back!
I rented a dvd, scream 2.....never returned. .but only because I'm forgetful and put things off..I figured maybe they would build a new one because it was old..and then maybe system info would be lost...and that's exactly what happened. ...
My mom had a book she lost and never brought back and she had a warrant for her arrest lol but this is in Rhode Island sooo I don't know any other states laws
You will eventually have a BIG fine if you find it. Just tell the library and pay for the book.
Usually you just cant check anything else out until you bring the book back or pay for it. However there are a few municipalities who have charged people with theft for extremely long over dues.
If you ever try to leave the country the FBI will detain you for questioning.
They will hunt you down, like a dirty dog! Just return it.
