What is the answer to this word problem?

Rodney asked janine to name two 3-digit numbers. she said 265 and 801. He immediately replied, "If you add 734 to those two numbers, your sum will be 1800."

a. How did Rodney pick his number?
b. How did he find the sum so quickly?
c. Use Rodney's rule. If a friend gives you the numbers 326 and 432, what number would you give your friend? What sum would you give?

The way I would do is add 265 and 801 in my head. 800 plus 200 is 1000 and 65 and 1 is 66 which gives you 1066. Add 34 and that would give you 1100 plus 700 and that gives you 1800. 326 and 432 is 758. Add 1042 and that would be 1800.
