Is this type of fighting real?

I was watching a movie (yes I know, I got this from a movie) called Sherlock Holmes (not a game of shadows but, Jude law was in it) and in one part "Sherlock" pictured everything he would do, and his attacker would try to do back in his mind before doing it. Is this type of fighting real? If so, what is it called and how can I learn it?

I agree with deckard. Most any fighting techniques teach on a "read and react" basis: 'sizing up' your opponent and predicting what they can/will do. But the ability to do it at that level is mostly Hollywood movie magic. Very few people in the world would be or are able to disarm/disable attackers with such accuracy and speed. Bruce Lee is the only person who comes to mind.

To some extent it's probably real. Any style of fighting would teach you moves and counter moves. With practice, you could probably have a very good idea of what you or your opponent might do next, but I don't think seeing the whole fight is real outside of movies.
