How can you wash your dog's head without hurting his eyes with the shampoo?

I've noticed that it's very hard to do so while giving him a bath, I have even taken him to a pet store that gives bath to dogs but they did not wash his head and he's scratches it sometimes. What can I do?

I wash my dog with Johnson and Johnson Baby Shampoo, no tears formula. I can scrub her head and the soap doesn't bother her eyes.

yes hold you hand as a half moon over their eyes while you put shampoo on its head and then the shampoo won't get into the dogs eyes that is what i do

Only do little parts at a time. Don't use too much soap, because it will drip into their eyes. Just use a drop on one side. Rub and rinse. Another drop on the other side. Rub and rinse. Don't make it too sudsy and soapy. Good luck :)

You can put a little dab of shampoo on his/ her head and rub gently and block the shampoo from getting in the eyes by covering them, or moving the shampoo away from it( like move it away) hope this helped!

Yes, it does, thank you :) I have to be careful 'cause My dog is a Siberian Husky and I know that their eyes are delicate.

I usually get my dogs head wet then put shampoo on his head and then slick it back so it doesn't get in his eyes. When I wash it out I usually just spray or pour water away from his eyes and onto his head.

That's how I do it but I've noticed a little crust on his head that's why I'm concerned. And I don't think I have ever washed his head properly. Need to learn how to.

Yah it's always important to learn how.

I distract my dog by keeping eye contact and singing a song. I know this sounds weird, but he's not bothered whenever I do this while washing his head (what bothers him is blow-drying afterwards). I use special grooming shampoo I bought from petfancy.com because it's gentle and cleans really well. I agree with not using too much soap or shampoo.Try making bath time fun so he can look forward to it.

That sounds good, your dog must be a happy one. I can understand why he doesn't like the blow dryer, it must be the noise. My dogs enjoys water and he likes to dive into a fountain near to my house. I guess I still have to work on this a little bit. Thank you :)

I buy this puppy shampoo that does not burn their eyes and ears. Just look for tear free puppy shampoo (they dont make it in dogs though only puppies)
