When I make McDonald's type biscuits I start by sifting together 1 1/3 C all-purpose flour, 3 tbs. powdered milk, 1tbs. granulated sugar, 3/4 tsp. salt, 2 1/2 tsp. baking soda and a couple dashes of creme of tartar. Next, I use a pastry cutter to cut in 1/4 cup of butter flavored shortening and mix until everything is well blended. Then, I knead the dough on a floured surface for about one minute. Next, I roll the dough out to about 3/4 of an inch in thickness and use a round cookie cutter to cut the dough into circles. I arrange the circles on a cookie sheet and bake them in an oven that's been preheated to 450F. Bake 10-12 minutes or until golden in color. I don't suppose I have to say what I do when they're done, but I'll tell you anyway. I slather them with butter and enjoy with my morning coffee!
