The U.S. has had different approaches to foreign policy and intervention over the years. Before World War 2 America was more isolationist and it took the attack on pearl harbour to bring the U.S. into the war even thigh must of western Europe had fallen to the Nazis. We now believe that being more proactive to help encourage democracy in the world leads to greater global stability and security. Most of the greatest threats to the world come from dictatorship regimes which abuse their citizens. Allowing people the freedom to govern themselves helps to ensure a safer world for everyone. Many nations prefer an isolationist U.S. until they need help, and by then it has been historically, too late.
Good question. If other countries tried to rule ours, God only knows what would happen. I am not in agreement with Ron Paul, but we need to mind our own business and take care of our own. I don't see other countries coming to our rescue now that we are going down the tubes. Come on Nov 2012!!
