How old should baby's be before they swim in a public swimming pool (or to go swimming in general)?

My aunt told me that it's good for baby's to go swimming and I wanted to take my 3 month old daughter swimming (she loves water) is she to young to be in the chlorine? If so at what age is she able to go swimming

She's fine as long as she has "floaties" and you are in the pool with her.

4 or 5. Have them start with a life jacket or inflatable floaties. Encourage them to go underwater with goggles. Stand by them in case they start to sink. Make sure they start to swim in a shallow pool.

We dropped ours in the pool at about 6 months, just because it wasn't summer til then. I see moms with babies younger than that sitting in those baby floaties. They love it. Just use sun screen and put a hat on them, even sunglasses.

the earlier they get used to swimming the more receptive they will be to lessons later. I would start with a private pool tho. fewer people and distractions for you to worry about
