What is the difference between oxygen and air.

Air is a mixture of different gases, primarily nitrogen, plus particulates and moisture. Oxygen is an element that is part of that mix.

oxygen is a pure gas, found on the periodic table and air ( that we breathe I assume you mean) is contaminated with dust, carcinogens, and other substances.

Oxygen is one of the element of air. Air includes oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide and other elements.

I think it could be used interchangeably when people are not being specific.
But I think oxygen is only one of the gases in air. I think there's nitrogen and carbon dioxide included in air. Maybe we need a scientist to answer this question.

The earth's atmosphere (air) consists of 79% nitrogen, 20% oxygen and 1% various other gases and water vapor.
