When Does an Employer Have to Pay Mileage?

It depends on the situation. California is the only state where it is law that an employer pays mileage. Otherwise it is not mandatory and it depends on the arrangement you have with your employer. The most common time an employer pays mileage is when you travel further than your normal job area.
