What does it mean when your dog constantly barks at nothing?

She is always looking at random walls in the house or at the ceiling and she just barks and barks and barks nonstop and it's starting to freak me out. (she's an 8 month old pug..don't know if this helps.)

it's possible she is barking at a rat or mouse in the walls

Dogs bark ,
Cats meow ,
There's nothing wrong,
Maybe show your dog more attention.

Any sound reflecting off a wall can set them off. My dog barks every time there is a doorbell in a commercial. Do you have any idea how many commercials use doorbells?

Maybe she's:
Bored
Lonely
Hungry
Sick
Hurt
Happy
Sees something
Hears something
Wants something
Curious
Or maybe has to go #1 or #2

Your dog may be bored and needs a friend to play with: YOU.
Give him some dog toys, tennis ball,
Squeaky toy, dog Frisbee anything to draw his attention away from what ever his is so fascinated with. Take him for several walk per day to get his mind off the " ghost ". All dogs need playtime , schedule at least several walks and yard play per day

I have a pug mix. He does the same thing, he just won't shut up! I think it's for attention. Play with your dog more.

Dogs have a very amazing sense of hearing so they are not barking at nothing. There is something that is irritating your dog.
