Liberal Arts and Humanities are attractive supplements to the sciences, because they can help the student become a more well rounded and patient friendly physician. Medical competence is important yes, and in the past that was considered by many to be the only factor. But warm and caring health care providers who provide not only for the physical but for the psychological and emotional needs of their patients is the new whole patient approach. Doc Martin may look great on the screen, but in reality he might not do so well by current standards of whole patient care.

All of them are worthwhile subjects. And if you heart is in them all the better. I am of the mind that Liberal Arts is an integral part of a well rounded education. But the decision of course is yours to make.
