Do i need milk for sugar cookies? or can i use water?

im making sugar cookies but the recipe calls for milk and i dont have any. can i just use water?

No, as a baker I know that you can substitute water, coconut milk or water, almond milk, or soy milk for milk from the cow. baking and cooking is not an exact science it allows for invention and substitutes.

Cooking isn't an exact science, but baking is. In order for baked goods to have the correct texture and to raise properly in the oven, you have to maintain the proper ratios between leavening agents, liquids and fats in your recipes. And different liquids contain different properties so you might have to do some testing to see what produces an end product that you like.

Recipe calls for milk that's what it needs I would think.
