I'm dyslexic dose it sounds stupid to my gf for a 21yr old guy to stumble over words like a 1st grader?
how's a good way to tell her family?

Dude don't think its some weird thing i have the same problem but it doesn't stop me from being who i am. I don t think if it as a handicap. Sure it is sometimes a drag to deal with but iv accepted it as what it is. Maybe just have to work harder than everyone else and that doesn't seem to be all that hard to do either. So it doesn't bother me and i found if its not a big deal with me it isn't a big deal with anyone else . It like the short man complex only the ones with it seem short.

there's no reason for your girl to look down on you. it's not like you decided you wanted to have a learning disability or decided to not try to learn. as for telling her family, only if your comfort. it's no one's business.

Listen just tell them. Most people know someone dyslexic and have already seen how it effects them. They should understand.

If your gf can't except a disabillity which makes you your own person, I don't know why you're with her at all. If you do stick around though just be upfront.

I think your situation with your girlfriend is probably more complicated than we can answer here. But I CAN tell you this. Don't EVER let your disability hold you back. Ever.

Well first of all you should try different colored lenses to see which color will help you to not see the words differently. Someone should have told you this already. Second it is better to tell someone close to you about your problem if the glasses don't work out because they will not try to put you in a situation where you feel uncomfortable. Not being able to see things correctly when you are reading could put you in a predicament that is in a life or death situation and it is important for certain people to know about the disability. Reading slow like a first grader does not matter. Not being able to read and decipher now that matters. My son would not tell his girlfriends that he had difficulty and they would think that he was not romantic because he wouldn't read or write anything to them or from them and just made no response. Try the colored lenses they do not have to be prescription or try different colors of overlay plastic to put over the sheet and try moving your finger from left to right training your brain to function in this manner. ps hope someone reads this for you.
