should I try to convince my son to go on a boy scout camping trip that he doesn't want to go on? please read details
my son is 11 & he suffers from severe social anxiety .he would be happy to go on this weekend campout if parents could come but I would have to get clearance (background check & such )before I would be allowed to go &they won't be able to complete it in time for this trip. so my son doesn't want to go. his father thinks I should coax him to go because he has to start being more independent. he thinks I am holding him back & babying him. also the scout leader would rather that parents don't go unless they insist. I think we should have my son sit this one out (I don't want to force him) & then once I get clearance we can all go next time but his dad thinks we should convince him to go without us. what do you think? I also wish the boy scout leaders would have tried harder to get me cleared in time to go, I think they should be happy when parents want to be involved. I appreciate any input. sorry to be so long winded!
