There's a load of good protein sources for vegetarians. As it was said, lentils are a very good source of it; try putting them in soups (brown ones are best for that and replace rice or peas, I don't like the texture of red lentils). Tofu is a great source of course and so is Edimame. You can also get soy protein that actually looks like normal meat to fool non-vegans eating at your place! :)
Brown rice is alright but it's more fiber content than protein, same for chick peas. But most beans are also very high in protein. Nuts are also great and as long as they're not in oil (simply salted), their fat content is mostly good fat and not trans fat/saturated fat.

Hi, good sources of protein are lentils, beans, nuts, tofu, tempeh, seitan. Textured vegetable protein is another one, flax seed, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds and split peas. Soy milk sometimes has added protein.
