If I use fresh milk to make frosting, how long can I leave the cake or cookies out? Something I have wondered for years.

How long can you leave cookies and cake out with frosting made with milk?

You can leave it un-refrigerated for about a day before it starts to get funky.

You can leave the cookies and cakes out for about one day before it starts to have a musty smell. Most cakes and cookies made from milk tend to be sweet.

Thank you both. When I think about cookies or scones with frosting drizzled over them that I have left out for days, I am thankful nobody got sick. The same thought goes with cream cheese. I guess a day is about it...
