My CPU cannot support my monitor recommended screen resolution...is that a way to change the system properties to solve this?

Report as

Both the monitor and the graphics card/chip (and driver) have to be capable of running a higher resolution. Usually older hard/software are less capable. If both your monitor AND graphics are capable of HD quality, then you can just troubleshoot it (and search the internet) to solve the problem. Windows 7 also has an option within the video settings to display settings that the system cannot handle. Turning that on can help you see the limitations of your system.

When a monitor does not support screen resolution it can be due to change of the monitors. You can fix the problem by starting the PC in safe mode so as to be able to change the resolution. You can get the process to follow at, http://www.ehow.com/how_6849152_monitor-resolution-won_t-boot-windows.html.
